Horde Heroes
The Horde is the game’s aggressive, physically-oriented faction. They get the earliest mythic heroes of any faction (Desert Prince at day 21), giving Horde players strong early momentum. Horde favors frontline pressure and sustained physical damage, with a growing mythic roster that eventually fields 7 mythics by Season 3.

Hero Upgrade Priority
Section titled “Hero Upgrade Priority”Level and invest in these heroes in order. Earlier heroes take priority for XP books, ascension materials, and skill upgrades.
Upgrade Order
Wanderer (formerly known as Wukong) is the highest-priority hero in Horde — invest everything into him first, including mythic gear. Desert Prince follows as the faction anchor. Shadow Priest is third priority because her shields scale directly with stats, making her significantly more effective with investment. Witch comes next for healing sustain, then Beastmaster for HP scaling. Storm Maiden is last among mythics — she’s serviceable but lacks the damage output expected of a damage dealer. Among legendaries, Wilderness Hunter, Barbarian, and Soulmancer see play in specific roles but are largely replaced by the full mythic roster.
Team Recommendations
Section titled “Team Recommendations”Growing Team (Legendary Start)
Section titled “Growing Team (Legendary Start)”Use this team before mythics arrive. Transition heroes out as mythics unlock.
Horde Starter
Replace Swordmaster → Desert Prince (day 21), Wilderness Hunter → Storm Maiden (day 27), Shaman → Witch (day 41)
All-Mythic Endgame Team
Section titled “All-Mythic Endgame Team”Horde Endgame
Wanderer in front reaches the enemy back line faster, taking out healers and support. Line up Beastmaster directly behind Wanderer, and Storm Maiden for a dynamic approach to the back line.
Anti-League Variant
Section titled “Anti-League Variant”Horde vs League
Swap Wanderer out and move Beastmaster to front. Warlock fills the mid-row slot. Use this when facing League-heavy opponents.
Mythic Release Timeline
Section titled “Mythic Release Timeline”Horde gets the earliest mythics in the game — an advantage over League and Nature.
| Season | Hero | Day | Replaces |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-season | Desert Prince | Day 21 | Swordmaster |
| Pre-season | Storm Maiden | Day 27 | Wilderness Hunter |
| Pre-season | Witch | Day 41 | Shaman |
| Season 2 | Wanderer | — | Flexible slot |
| Season 2 | Beastmaster | — | Flexible slot |
| Season 3 | Shadow Priest | — | Can replace Warlock |
By day 41, your entire core legendary trio has been replaced. Season 2 adds two more mythics, compressing legendary presence further. By Season 3, only situational legendaries (Barbarian, Soulmancer, Warlock) remain in the lineup.
Awakening Priority
Section titled “Awakening Priority”With 6+ mythics released, awakening Horde legendaries is largely optional. The community consensus:
Recommended Awakening
Warlock is the only legendary with a clear community recommendation for awakening. He provides consistent offensive capability in PvE damage rankings and guild events that justifies the resource investment.
Don’t awaken Wilderness Hunter, Swordmaster, or Shaman — they’re fully replaced by mythics and the awakening resources are better spent elsewhere.
Gear Recommendations
Section titled “Gear Recommendations”| Hero | Gear Set | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wanderer | Titan’s Might | Top priority for mythic gear — gives him the most damage possible. Tested over Desert Prince, mythic gear performs better here |
| Desert Prince | Titan’s Might | Survives fine at high level with max traits. Go full attack rather than tank sets |
| Shadow Priest | Titan’s Might | Attack scaling means higher shield percentages for the whole team |
| Witch | Glory of the Knight | Attack percentage boost plus survivability — she needs to stay alive to keep healing |
| Beastmaster | Fury of Blood | Maximizes HP. She carries Heroic Spirit, which scales well with investment over time |
| Storm Maiden | Titan’s Might | Needs all the attack help she can get to compensate for lackluster damage |
| Barbarian | Star Breaker | Marks enemies, Horde heroes deal +15% damage to marked targets |
| Soulmancer | Fury of Blood | Soul Link synergy; Knight Glory as alternative |
| Warlock | Glory of the Knight | Hellfire Circle and Curse of Weakness benefit from skill amplification |
| Wilderness Hunter | Titan’s Might | Pure Attack scaling for maximum DPS |
Unique Weapon Priority
Section titled “Unique Weapon Priority”Use 5 chests to unlock all UWs to +1 first (5 box required for every UW), then invest deeper in this order:
UW Upgrade Order
Wanderer’s UW is the single highest priority in Horde. Desert Prince’s Golden Cleave is widely considered the best exclusive skill in the game — push his UW as high as possible. Wilderness Hunter’s Giant Slayer and Soulmancer’s Ascendant are strong early investments that carry until mythic UWs become available.
Trait Priority
Section titled “Trait Priority”Frontline heroes benefit the most from traits, making them much tougher to kill.
| Priority | Trait | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | HP Drain | Sustain for frontline and mid heroes |
| 2 | Dmg Reduction (Skills) | Survivability against burst damage |
| 3 | Crit Resistance | PvP defense against crit-heavy factions |
| 4 | Gather Speed | Economy acceleration |
Prioritize HP Drain on your tanks (Desert Prince, Barbarian) and Damage Reduction on your mid-row carries first.
| Hero | Recommended Skin | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wanderer | Rebirth (all hero attack + crit damage) | Fairyman defense break skin is mathematically better, but Rebirth is solid and free |
| Desert Prince | Ice Blade (ultimate skill multiplier) | Defense break skin is also strong if you want more raw damage |
For your troop skin, use the Horde-specific Soldier HP +15% skin. For march type, Heavy Cavalry is preferred for PvP — the 50% PvP march speed bonus is huge for open-world fights, letting you attack and get back to defend before opponents reach your castle. Divine Spirit is better for PvE and pet-focused play.
Pets & Relics
Section titled “Pets & Relics”Horde has two faction pets: Flicker Kit and Howl (Howie).
Flicker Kit provides stronger Horde-specific passive bonuses when leveled, making it the better long-term investment for your deployed passive. Howl has the superior active skill — it bites two random enemies dealing damage equal to 4% of their max HP per second (capped at 300% of Howl’s attack) and increases the damage they take by 5%. Even players who max Flicker Kit still use Howl (or How Lord once mythic) as their active pet for the damage amplification.
If you’re free-to-play, focus on Howl first — the active skill advantage matters more than passive stat differences when resources are limited.
Relics
Section titled “Relics”Focus on the Horde-specific Dragon’s Might relic set: Thunder’s Judgment, Dragon Bone Amulet, and Dragon Heart. Level Thunder’s Judgment first for the hero attack percentage and damage increase bonuses.
Behemoths
Section titled “Behemoths”Horde has two faction-specific guardian behemoths:
| Behemoth | Type | Skill |
|---|---|---|
| Wolf | Defensive | Provides a shield to all heroes based on commander HP |
| Golden Scorpion | Offensive | Damage-focused abilities that benefit Horde’s aggressive playstyle |
New players should start with Golden Scorpion — Horde benefits more from a damage-dealing behemoth than a shield one. Focus on one behemoth until you unlock rank suppression, then go back and star up the other.
Strategy Notes
Section titled “Strategy Notes”-
Wanderer front row: Placing Wanderer in the front row is the standard endgame positioning — he reaches the enemy back line faster, taking out healers and support before they can sustain. Line up Beastmaster behind him to follow up.
-
Mythic gear on Wanderer: Your best mythic gear belongs on Wanderer, not Desert Prince. Testing shows Wanderer deals significantly more damage with mythic gear, and the results are more consistent.
-
Desert Prince anchor: Desert Prince’s Royal Battle Armor reduces all incoming skill damage for allies. Combined with stun immunity at max stars, he is the faction’s anchor and should never be benched. His UW (Golden Cleave) is the best exclusive skill in the game — push it as high as possible.
-
Storm Maiden reality check: Storm Maiden is the weakest Horde mythic. She lacks the damage expected of a damage dealer, which is why she’s last priority for trades/upgrades. Give her Titan gear and hope for the best.
-
Shadow Priest shields: Shadow Priest’s shields scale with her stats, so investing in her (Titan gear, trade priority) directly improves team survivability. She’s now a core part of the all-mythic lineup, not a situational swap.
-
Anti-League adjustment: Against League, swap Wanderer out, move Beastmaster to front, and slot Warlock into mid. This is situational — the all-mythic team handles most matchups fine.
-
PvP march speed: Run Heavy Cavalry troop skin for the 50% PvP march speed bonus. Being able to hit and get back to defend before opponents reach your castle is a massive advantage in open-world PvP.
